RIPEMD-160 - RACE Integrity Primitives Evaluation Message Digest

RIPEMD-160 is a 160-bit cryptographic hash function developed in 1996. It produces a 40-character hexadecimal hash value and is designed as a secure replacement for MD4 and MD5.

RIPEMD-160 is famously used in Bitcoin for generating addresses (combined with SHA-256) and in PGP/GPG for key fingerprints. It remains secure against known cryptographic attacks.
